The AI for Surgery lab at Johns Hopkins is a multi-disciplinary team that is developing and translating technologies to transform surgical education, advance surgical care, improve patient outcomes and experience, and enhance value in care. We have three major focus areas:
- Quantify the surgical care process, including the interventions and provider skill
- Explain how surgical intervention affects patient outcomes
- Automate technologies to interactively support surgical training, care, and decision-making
Our research involves instrumenting the surgical care and training spaces to capture complex, high-dimensional data at scale, developing analytics to discover structure in time series data, and building, validating and translating applications that support surgical providers and patients.
